Bulgaria modernises air traffic management

The Bulgarian Air Traffic Services Authority (BULATSA) provides continuous air navigation services to the aircraft over Bulgaria, and part of the airspace around the Black Sea. "The air traffic management regulations are fully in correspondence with the EU requirements," says Tsvetkov. "Steps are being taken to introduce changes connected with our commitments to the EU in airspace management; these changes are to be implemented by 2011."rnBULATSA is charging EUR42.93 (USD55) for a 100 km served flight for an aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of 60 tonnes. Tsvetkov says the price will fall to EUR40.54 in 2011 "in accordance with the agreement in 2008 signed by BULATSA and I ATA". Navigation charges enable BULATSA to fulfil its programme for modernising air traffic management with the Selex Sistemi Integrati SATCAS system.
