Paris embraces Beumer BHS

Beumer Group and Alstef are supplying a new automated baggage-handling system (BHS) for Satellite 3 (S3) at Paris Charles de Gaulle. Airport operator Aeroports de Paris (ADP) issued the contract following a competitive tender. A separate call for tenders will be issued in 2016 for "additional equipment to collect and sort connecting baggage", said ADP official NadineVennat. S3 is designed to handle large widebody aircraft such as the A380, operated by Air France and SkyTeam alliance partners. The BHS is scheduled to enter service in 2018. It will include five Standard 3 inline hold baggage screening machines, remote monitoring via tablet devices, and an RFID tracking capability.
