Today, the Clyde remains a centre of shipbuilding excellence and recently a significant sum of money has been invested in upgrading the facilities at the shipyard. The work was focussed on refurbishing the Dry Dock. Once completed, the refurbished dry dock - also referred to as a 'graving dock' - will provide the UK with the operational capacity to compete for ship refurbishment contracts in the global market.
