Shell's Pump Station Docks Protected by Antistatic Polyurea

When Shell Deutschland GmbH in Hamburg,Germany,required a coating system to protect concrete landing/dis-charging docks for ships transporting petrochemicals and other flammable materials,a coatings manufacturer developed a cost effective antistatic polyurea offering chemical resistance,durability,easy application,and a variety of colors.Handling over five million tones of petrochemical products,the refinery has several pump stations where ships carrying crude oil,fuel,diesel,and heavy oils are loaded and unloaded.The floor of these areas is regularly exposed to spills and leaks.Epoxy coating systems previously used by Shell had been too rigid and brittle,developing cracks due to weathering.
