The mechanomaking process is a high-energy milling technology for powder materials. This flexible process allows to manufacture nanophased materials (crystal size <100nm) by means of a combination of different mechano-chemical processes, such as mechanical alloying, high energy mixing, fracture and welding of the processed materials, etc. The process makes use of mechano-chemical reactors in which the milling means subject the powders to high frequency mechano-chemical actions. This technology has proved to be able to synthesize both thermodinamics equilibrium and non-equilibrium nanostructured materials, starting from their elemental powders. The range of the mechanomade~(~R) materials is wide, going for example from tools steels to intermetallic alloys, from nanocomposite matrixes to flakes. A peculiar characteristic of the mechanomaking technology is to increase the possibility of "engineering" a material in order to fulfill special application requirements. MBN has developed proprietary mechanomaking equipment with a production capacity which allows to supply the market with industrially significant nanostructured materials. The main operating areas with the most interesting applications - both potential and existing - are the following: 1. Low and very low density alloys 1.1 Automotive industry 1.2 Eyeglasses industry 1.3 Biomedical prosthesis 2. Tools steels 2.1 Highly stressed mechanical components, tools 3. Strengthened metal matrixes (Cu-, Co-, Ti-based etc) 3.1 Abrasive tools 3.2 Anti-wear materials 4. Cemented carbides 4.1 Hard metal, tools, thermal spray.
