Saving lives: Global Forum examines the role of telecommunications and ICT in disaster management

摘要

While natural disasters can never be entirely prevented, information and communication technologies (ICT) can help reduce their impact and restore normality and development efforts. Any disaster reduction measure that is not inked to telecommunications does not go far enough. For this reason, ITU is organizing a Global Forum on Effective Use of Telecommunications/ICT for Disaster Management: Saving Lives, taking place in Geneva on 10-12 December 2007.
