Decade of action for road safety: 2011-2020

Welcoming the focus on road safety for World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2013, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a video message to participants in the ITU Award ceremony that road accidents kill nearly 1.3 million people every year and leave millions more injured or perma- nently disabled, placing a heavy economic burden on families and countries.
