Unlike many past COMMONS, IBM set a genuine tone of hope for the future at its "Town Hall Meeting" session the first day of COMMON Chicago. By pledging there to bring the iSeries out of its obscurity within the eServer marketing message and to pump many more advertising dollars into promoting the iSeries as an individual platform, IBM has extended the iSeries' potential lifespan. IBM's new resolve brings to mind an image of the iSeries, like King Arthur, emerging from the dark cave of legend to resume its place in the sunshine as a premier business computer system.
