Companies are looking for ways to extend document capture systems beyond scanning and storing, to further leverage their investment in the technology. Although document capture has great benefits, the true benefits are achieved when electronic documents are automatically routed to others who need to review, append, modify, or approve them. Documents drive business processes, and by integrating the data they contain with applications, time and cost savings extend beyond replacement of paper and cabinet files to automation of internal and external processes. Scanning and storing documents and using them to automate business processes is part of our daily lives, whether we recognize it or not.
