PowerBuoy deployment delayed

Weather conditions off the Northwest US coast have delayed plans for the installation of a wave energy generator by Ocean Power Technologies (OPT). The New Jersey-based company says that although final testing and assembly of its PowerBuoy wave energy device are on track, the early onset of unfavourable weather conditions posed certain risks to the project. The company had aimed to install the PowerBuoy at a site just oft the coast of Reedsport, Oregon in October 2012.
