Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd (MHI) has announced it has set a target to increase the number of the company's female managers threefold from the current level by 2020. In a statement, the company said the initiative is being taken in conjunction with it's pursuit of diversity management to further accelerate the company's global expansion and to make the leap to a highly profitable enterprise with a business scale of 5 trillion yen. Until now, MHI has promoted the active participation of its female employees through measures to support women's attainment of a work environment that is in harmony with their childrearing needs. Examples are the introduction of benefits allowing female employees to take childcare leave and the creation of in-company nursery facilities.
