Owned by Comision Federal de Electricidad, the 261m high Chicoasen Dam was designed in the early 1970's and built between 1974 and 1980. It has been a reference project for the design and construction of many dams worldwide, particularly those built in regions that have extremely harsh environments, including complex topography and geology.
