DB Schenker is expanding its presence in the United Arab Emirates. To this end it has founded a joint venture in Dubai, together with the owners of BAX Global LLC, which started work as Schenker LLC on 1 September. Its team of 100 employees will build on existing customer relations. Schenker LLC will be an integral part of DB Schenker's worldwide network and offer clients the full range of logistics services. One of the largest logistics hubs in the world is currently being created in Dubai, with an expanded port, Dubai Logistics City and a new airport. DB Schenker has offered regular round trips between the Asian, European and US markets since June 2007, with flights between Dubai and Toledo OH (USA) via Frankfurt/Hahn (Germany). Demand comes primarily from the electronic, automotive, machinery and clothing industries, according to Dr Thomas C. Lieb, the member of the Schenker board in charge of worldwide sea and airfreight.
