Mercadona builds giant distribution centre

The Spanish supermarket chain Mercadona is to invest EUR 180 million in the construction of a new supra-regional logistics and distribution centre in the city of Guadix near Granada (Andalusia). The complex, which will be created on a plot of land measuring nearly 200,000 sqm, will offer some 77,500 sqm of working space. Mercadona's new platform will provide 200 new jobs in the region. The investment in the new premises, which will supply approximately 200 Mercadona supermarkets in the provinces of Granada, Almeria, Jaen and Murcia, will amount to around EUR 60 million.
