Ports cooperating against congestion

Not only the increasing container throughput is putting a major strain on the ports of East Africa. Examinations in Kenya have shown that despite good equipment, throughput in the port of Mombasa is hampered by bad organisation of the onward transport of containers. The port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, in contrast, has increased the throughput of containers by 16% since 2011.
