CMA CGM returned to the profit zone in 2012. The Marseilles-based French shipping company, the third-largest in the world, was able to save approximately USD 800 million and thereby achieve its cost-cutting goal earlier than planned. Group sales rose to USD 15.9 billion in 2012, 7% more than the USD 14.9 billion posted in 2011. According to a company statement, last year's growth was mainly due to a 6% increase in transport volumes, compared to 2011.
