Results shine brightly at European air cargo hubs

In July 2017 almost every European airport handled substantially more airfreight than in the like-for-like month last year. In total the continental airports association ACI Europe established that growth came in at 10.5%, which represents practically no change vis-a-vis June. There were no changes in the top five slots of the rankings, though the double-digit growth rates recorded by some of the airports ranked from fourth place downwards were remarkable -except for Liege. Thus London Heathrow broke through the 140,000 t mark, Leipzig and Istanbul Atatiirk through the 90,000 t and Milan Malpensa through the 50,000 t mark. In July 2016 Atatiirk was still reeling from the collapse in volumes caused by an attack on the hub and the attempted coup in the country.
