摘要

Synchronized phasor measurements offer many advantages for the reliable operation of power systems. With phasor quantities, the relative angle between voltage and current variables can be calculated directly, instead of being estimated. Using a high sampling-rate, the spread of a disturbance can be observed and the origin and nature of the disturbance can be discerned. Oscillations can be detected, allowing computation of the frequency and damping of the oscillatory modes. When phasor quantities from multiple locations are available, the mode shapes and the paths of the oscillatory modes can be determined. Phasor data can also be used for identifying dynamic models, which can be used to improve the fidelity of simulation programs and assess dynamic security.
