Waratah Coal is proposing to build a new 490km standard-gauge line to link its planned Galilee Basin coal mine near Alpha in central Queensland to the coal port at Abbot Point, north of Bowen.rnThe new line could be designed to support trains of up to 21,000 tonnes, twice the size of the largest coal trains on the existing 1067mm-gauge network.
