Funding awarded for Perth suburban emus

The Western Australian state budget has allocated $A 164m to purchase a fleet of 15 three-car emus for the city's suburban network. The Public Transport Authority is negotiating with the supplier of Perth's existing emu fleet, a joint venture of Downer Rail and Bombardier, to deliver the new trains, which will be based on the current B-series fleet.
