New York MTA proposes $US 51.5bnspend in largest-ever investment plan

NEW York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) published its proposed $US 51.5bn 2020-2024 capital investment plan on September 16, which it describes as "by far the highest in the MTA's history, increasing spending on infrastructure by 70% over current levels." MTA plans to invest more than $US 40bn in New York City Transit's subways and buses as well as major investment in the Long Island Railroad and Metro-North commuter rail networks.
