SBB and BLS reach inter-city compromise

THE Swiss Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications announced on August 22 that the BLS and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) have reached a compromise agreement on the operation of the country's inter-city network. The Federal Office of Transport (BAV) decided in June 2018 to award SBB a concession to operate almost the entire inter-city network, with the exception of just two inter-regional lines - Bern - Biel and Bern - Burgdorf - Olten, which were awarded to BLS. SBB appealed against this decision at the Federal Administrative Court.
