US two years away from full PTC implementation

FULL implementation of Positive Train Control (PTC) across the United States railway network could still be two years away according to a report by the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) following the expiry of the previously federally-mandated deadline on December 31. According to the Positive Train Control Enforcement and Implementation Act of 2015, which was signed into law on October 29 2015, the original statutory deadline for railways to complete full implementation of PTC systems was extended from December 31 2015 to December 31 2018.
