Growth by acquisition

GE Energy has achieved several major milestones in recent months, including the successful start-up of the powerful H System at Baglan Bay in Wales, the introduction of the world's most efficient simple-cycle gas turbine, and new acquisitions to further broaden the company's energy portfolio. The H System, representing GE's most advanced combined-cycle technology, has recorded nearly 4,000 hours of commercial service since it began operation in September of 2003. Featuring innovative, closed loop steam cooling, the H System is the world's first combined-cycle technology designed with the capability to achieve 60 per cent thermal efficiency. It is producing 480MW of power for the Baglan Bay Energy Park and the national grid in Wales.
