The fabrication of multi-ply waterproof roofing materials based on virgin or waste polyethylene films and basalt fabrics by a calendering process, and their characterisation by tensile strength, elongation at break, water permeability and flexibility at low temperatures, is described. The effects of processing conditions on physicomechanical properties are discussed in terms of potential building and agricultural applications. 4 refs.
