摘要

Editors Michelle Thompson-Fawcett and Claire Freeman offer a broad and illuminating range of perspectives connected to the contemporary debate around community planning and participatory community planning methods. With a distinct approach that focuses upon New Zealand as a case, the text offers 16 diverse articles written by a range of experts in community planning, social policy and social sciences. These reflections provide a wide range of approaches connected to community planning. Bond and Fawcett-Thompson reflect that urban design within New Zealand is a recently invigorated field. They therefore argue that the associated decision-making processes and communication are in need of a major overhaul to match the other areas of policy and aesthetic progression. The issue of 'inclusive communities' is of particular relevance within New Zealand's changing political landscape, particularly in terms of the social value and implications of planning.
