India first for CTD

Word of the Underway CTD system from the Oceanscience Group, USA, is spreading rapidly, according to sales executive Adrian McDonald of the San Diego, California-based company. "We are pleased to have Underway CTD cruises completed in many of the major world ocean regions, and have already achieved a global customer base with the new system," he said. As part of this expanding worldwide recognition of the profiler, the first Underway CTD destined for India is headed to the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) in Kochi. The Underway CTD will be used for habitat mapping of oceanic squid in the Arabian Sea, within a project to help better utilise these fast-growing but distant water fishery resources.
