Successful retrofit

Lighthouse R & D Enterprises, USA, reports it has successfully completed a retrofit of its Lighthouse Ocean Research Initiative (LORI I) cabled ocean observatory off the coast of Oman. The system, which has been in place since 2005, measures current velocities, oceanic physical properties andrndissolved oxygen and is connected to a shore facility via fibre optic cable, allowing full duplex capability.
