This paper addresses the power system stabilizer (PSS) synthesis Problem through a constrained optimal control technique applied Over a linear multimachine power system model that includes sub- Transient effects. The PSS thus obtained obeys the classical gain, Lead-lag structure, and its input can be any appropriate local sig- Nal. The participation factors technique is used for determining The appropriate site for stabilizing action. Simulation results on a One-machine and three-machine system are shown.
