摘要

Cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles are synthesized by a cost-effective and application-oriented chemical precipitation technique. Deionized water was used as a solvent, whereas cadmium chloride (CdCl_2) and sodium sulphate (Na_2S_9H_2O) were used as cadmium and sulphur sources. CdS was -prepared by refluxing the product for 0-75 min. The solution was centrifuged at 10,000 rpm for 10 min. The crystallite size of ~10 nm of CdS hexagonal nanoparticles was confirmed by X-ray diffractograms. The SEM results show a diameter of ~25 nm at a low synthesis temperature of 85℃. The size was tuned to ~18 nm by changing the synthesis conditions and re-fluxing time. Previous studies show preparation of CdS nanoparticles in ultrasonic waves, whereas in this research work the simplest route of nanoparticle synthesis is taken and explained. Optimized nanoparticles were dispersed in absolute ethanol and pyridine to prepare a nanocrys-talline ink. The CdS ink was then spin coated onto a glass substrate for optical measurements.
