In the United States, the American Recovery and Re-investment Act (ARRA) has had a major impact on the adoption of electronic medical records (EMR) systems. At the very least - even where it has not directly prompted hospitals and other medical facilities to install EMR systems where they may not have otherwise done so -the Act has brought forward the adoption of such systems temporally.
