In Memoriam Professor Patricia Birnie

It is with great sadness that the Editors note the death of Professor Patricia Birnie on 7 February 2013, in London, at the age of 86. She was the first Director of the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) in Malta and a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law since its foundation in 1992.
