摘要

In the last editorial, I talked about how the topic of BIG DATA contributes to image and data fusion in the Geomatics community and its key research technologies. Advances in sensor and computer technology are affecting the way of collecting, managing and analysing remotely sensed data. In particular, the integration of new sensors to different platforms for earth observation and geo-information is currently producing huge amounts of high-dimensional data, and this explosion based on "internet+" strategy, mobile devices and location-based services is facing new processing challenges. To address this need, several research efforts have been taken towards the high-performance computing techniques and practices in the remote sensing field.
