Hydro Tasmania completes Poatina penstock refurbishment

Modernization work at Hydro Tasmania's Poatina plant in Australia has reached a milestone with completion of the refurbishment on the 1.7 km-long surface penstock. Refurbishment of the 3 m-diameter, Italian-fabricated penstock required the internal coating to be replaced, improving corrosion protection and so extending the operational life of the strategic facility in the utility's portfolio. The 312 MW Poatina facility is Hydro Tasmania's second largest power station.
