Construction of the Jatigede dam project in Java, Indonesia

The Jatigede dam is an on-going project located on the Cimanuk river in west Java, Indonesia. The origin of the Cimanuk river is in the Papandayan mountains (el. 2662 m), in the Garut District, with the river flowing northwards to the coast there. The Jatigede project area itself is located near the village of Cijeungjing in the Sumedang district of Java. The Cimanuk river is approximately 130 km long with a catchment area of 3600 km~2. The average annual rainfall is 2880 mm and runoff recorded at the Rentang barrage (approximately 30 km downstream of the Jatigede dam) is about 4.3 × 10~9 m~3 per year.
