First refurbished unit at Dimitrie Leonida resumes operation in Romania

Romania's state-owned hydropower producer Hidroelectrica has announced the completion of the refurbishment and repowering of the first of six units at the 210 MW Dimitrie Leonida storage plant, on the river Bistrita in the northeastern region of Moldavia. Unit 6 was returned to commercial service on 24 March, after tests which confirmed that the unit is operating at its new design parameters of 55 MW and an installed capacity of 60.14 MVA, Hidroelectrica announced, adding that performance tests would continue throughout this year in parallel with its commercial operation.
