The effects of spatially varying absorption and scattering coefficients on radiation transfer in absorbing, emitting, an- isotropically scattering hollow cylinders with reflecting boundaries were investigated using the discrete ordinates method (DOM) by Tsai et al. [Int. J.Heat Mass Transfer 33 91990] 2651]. Their problem solution for hollow cylinder cases are incorrect. The cause of this inaccuracies are identified and the correct solutions obtained using DOM S_6 are provided.
