Preface

This final issue of 2010 breaks new ground for the IJHFF since it brings together collections of papers from two separate conferences on quite different themes. The papers cover a broad spectrum of subjects that readers have become accustomed to finding in this journal. As is our invariable practice, following a provisional identification of some of the best papers from the two conferences, each contribution has been updated and extended prior to being independently reviewed by external experts. Those appearing within this issue have then been further revised to take account of the referees' suggestions to provide a content and form best suited for archival documentation. The first group of papers comprises those originally presented at the 7th World Conference on Experimental Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics (ExHFT-7) held in Krakow, Poland from June 28-July 3, 2009 at the Jagiellonian University. Since the inaugural conference in this series held in Dubrovnik in 1988, the meeting (held under the auspices of the Assembly of World Conferences on Experimental Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics & Thermodynamics) has grown steadily in stature and influence.
