This special issue of the International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry is devoted to the 5th European Conference on Pesticides and Related Organic Micropollutants in the Environment and the 11th Symposium on Chemistry and Fate of Modern Pesticides, which were held in Marseille, France, from 22 to 25 October 2008. The conference was once again a joint venture of the International Association of Environmental Analytical Chemistry (IAEAC) and the European-Mediterranean Association for Environmental Education, Assessment and Protection (ENEAP) and was organised by the Laboratoire Chimie Provence of the Provence University and the Institut des Sciences Moleculaires de Marseille of the Paul Cezanne University in Marseille. The joint celebration of these scientific events has provided an excellent opportunity for researchers worldwide to exchange ideas and results, and to further enhance international cooperation.
