This completely revised and updated edition of the Handbook of Environmental Analysis covers all aspects of environmental analysis.The book is divided into three parts dealing, respectively, with analytical techniques, specific classes of substances and aggregate properties and selected individual compounds. Part Ⅰ highlights different analytical techniques including instrumentation, sample preparations and QA/QC methods. Instrumental methods include primarily gas chromatography, mass spectro-metry, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ion chromatography, ion-selective electrodes, spectrophotometric methods and immunoassay techniques. Part Ⅱ presents analytical methodologies for 43 different classes of organic and inorganic pollutants, from anions to emerging pollutants, in aqueous, solid and air matrices. A chapter on radioactivity is also included. In Part Ⅲ, analytical methodologies and physical properties are presented for 75 selected individual compounds. Most of the analytical methods in Parts Ⅱ and Ⅲ are abstracted from the methodologies of EPA, NIOSH, SM and ASTM.
