Engineering intelligent systems novel application to changing the transactional nature of obtaining kWh meter readings

The purpose of this paper is to describe the architecture & framework required for changing the transactional nature of obtaining kWh meter readings; by doing away with human meter-readers altogether. The scope of the present paper includes interfacing the kWh meter to a networked computer system, and design of appropriate software drivers. The conclusion of this paper is that the methodology of engineering intelligent systems has been successfully applied to an experimental laboratory prototype, given the acronym ODETNET, for automation of kWh meter readings.
