IN MEMORIAM: KENNETH KUAN-YUN KUO DECEMBER 17,1939 - JULY 31, 2016

The Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal on Energetic Materials and Chemical Propulsion (IJEMCP) and Emeritus Distinguished Professor of Pennsylvania State University, Kenneth Kuan-Yun Kuo, passed away on July 31, 2016, at the age of 76, surrounded by his family. Professor Kuo was born in Kunming, China, on December 17, 1939. He graduated from the National Taiwan University with a B.S. degree in 1961 and received a M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1964. He worked as a design engineer at Garrett AiResearch from 1964 to 1968 on the Apollo Project and also on hypersonic ramjet engine development. He received his Ph.D. degree in Aerospace and Mechanical Sciences from Princeton University in 1971, in which he submitted his thesis entitled "Theory of flame front propagation in porous propellant charges under confinement."
