As previously reported, the Human Resources Division has been expanded to include the responsibility for the full internal human resource function. In pursuit of these responsibilities, we have incorporated the team concept. The Human Resource Team has written and disseminated eight internal policies and procedures, covering; attendance, hours of employment, availability, compensation time off, vacation, flextime, appraisal and development, and job descriptions. By completing job descriptions for all associates, we are now in a position to examine these descriptions for the purpose of evaluating their status, exempt or non-exempt, in accordance with the federal wage and hour laws. By completing our appraisal and development policy, we have taken the first steps toward establishing our succession-planning program. By completing our attendance policy, we were able to reduce absenteeism by 45 percent, over the past six months. The Human Resource Team is also examining AFS' present benefit plans. Following the directions from the leadership team, we have had a meeting with the insurance agent representing our 403(B) plan. We are presently in pursuit of other options that could provide us with the possibility of better returns by providing the opportunity to select from a family of investment vehicles. We will continue to examine other benefit plans with the purpose of receiving the best possible programs without incurring additional Cost.
