News and Briefs: European e-participation project

摘要

To help the European Commission understand the current use of e-participation in the legislative process and wider e-participation activities across the EU an analysis is currently being carried out with an overall objective to provide background information as well as recommendations for future strategy and direction.rnThe European e-participation project, launched by the Centre for Policy & Business Analysis of the Danish Technological Institute (Denmark), the Institute of Communications Studies of the University of Leeds (UK) and the Information Systems Laboratory of the University of Macedonia (Greece) on January 2008 and expected to complete on February 2009, aims to identify the legitimate and appropriate roles of e-participation at European level and the barriers to adoption; map the state of play of e-participation in the EU and Member States; support dialogue and networking on c-participation between the European Commission and key stakeholders at local, regional, national and EU level; explore the scope for broader diffusion of e-participation in the EU, via demonstration of good practices and ways of adopting them; and make recommendations for EU level actions in the field of e-participation.
