A probabilistic decoupled harmonic power flow technique was developed in order to scrutinize the probabilistic characteristics of a new techno-economic multi-objective model for hybrid harmonic filter planning, taking into account uncertainty in demand and the amount of injected harmonic currents by non-linear loads using an efficient two-point estimate method. In this study, the authors looked at four problem objectives: the total cost associated with allocated hybrid harmonic filters; and, the total harmonic distortion related to voltage, current, and transmission line loss arising from harmonics in the optimization. The newly developed model is a complicated large-scale non-linear mixed-integer optimization problem that makes use of a new multi-computational stage, multi-dimensional multiple-inhomogencous melody search algorithm, or symphony orchestra search algorithm (SOSA), that is widely employed and followed by a fuzzy satisfying approach to determine the final optimal solution. This algorithm is a recently developed optimization technique by the authors, which imitates the musical procedures and interactive relationship among members of a symphony orchestra. The SOSA is organized by multiple-homogeneous and-inhomogeneous music players with a three-stage improvisation. The planning model has been applied on IEEE 18-bus, IEEE 69-bus and IEEE 123-bus distribution test networks to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.
