September, and on the southern perimeter of Amsterdam, at the rambling complex that is the RAI Exhibition and Conference Centre, it is the season for another IBC. The organizers nowadays avoid calling it by its original full title - the International Broadcasting Convention - because for a number of years now this trade exhibition and conference has been about much more than just conventional over-the-air broadcasting. It is now about every aspect of the technology and the business of creating electronic content and delivering it to the end-user. And this content can now be delivered and consumed in a bewildering number of ways - broadcast or via the Internet - and viewed on Internet-enabled television receivers, tablets, laptops or hand-held smart-phones as well as conventional television receivers.
