'Dating violence among adolescents and emerging adults: between conflict theory and feminist thought'

Cette approche épistémologique et dialectique nous a permis de comprendre comment l'étude de la violence dans les relations amoureuses s'est développée à la suite de l'étude de la violence conjugale, et comment cela s'est opéré dans un contexte social (définition de la violence comme problème social) mobilisant différentes perspectives théoriques (théorie du conflit et pensée féministe). Cette démarche contribue également à la reconnaissance par les criminologues et intervenants psycho-judiciaires de la violence dans les relations amoureuses comme un objet d'étude trouvant légitimement sa place au croisement de différentes disciplines telles que la criminologie, la sociologie et la psychologie.%While dating violence has been being studied since Makepeace's seminal work (1981), neither its societal nor theoretical background has been examined so far. The present manuscript then goes back to the acknowledgment and study of domestic violence via two perspectives: conflict theory and feminist thought. Underlining their convergences and divergences is an opportunity to understand their respective contributions to the study of dating violence. This epistemological approach comes within the scope of criminology and psycho-judiciary interventions by contributing to a new definition of the social problem (Blumer, 1971 ) that we call 'dating violence'.
