摘要

Gathering timing constraints information necessary for obtaining good scheduling performance in real-time systems is a challenging task. The main challenge involved in scheduling applications in real-time systems is the unavailability of information to execute the task a priori. Many systems make poor admission decisions under overload conditions that result in a degraded performance. By the appropriate use of admission control and overload management technique, the performance of such systems may be enhanced. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for providing admission control for tasks in real-time systems. The admission control scheme is shown to outperform the binary admission policies (accept or reject) adopted by the feedback-driven proportion allocator in case of overload. As the system becomes overloaded, the proposed admission control scheme allows for the utilization of the system resources in the most profitable manner and hence achieves effective processor utilization.
