Analysis of prioritized handover MAC protocol for speech traffic on ATM infrared wireless LANs

This paper investigates the performance of a handover priority-based medium access control (MAC) protocol to support voice services on asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) infrared (IR) indoor wireless LANs. The prioritized handover mechanism utilizes both the guard and the queuing scheme an dits Performance parameters such as new call blocking probability, average access delay, handover blocking Probability, packet dropping probability, forced termination probability and throughput are evaluated.
