摘要

A new method for designing an immobilized column reactor is proposed. Thenmethod is iterative and minimizes an energy-cost function to determine the columnnreactor dimensions. The column reactor dimensions obtained by employingnthis method take into account the material balance, process constraints and productivityntargets. The problem is formulated in such a way that it addresses andnresolves multiple goals simultaneously to achieve the desired productivity. A casenstudy of the application of this method for designing an immobilized cell columnnreactor for L–methionine production is presented.
